I am very excited about the upcoming 6 day professional development training I am providing for several Arkansas school districts. The Dyslexia Bill, a new law passed in Arkansas, has outlined specific assessments and interventions that are best suited for identifying children with Dyslexia. I am excited about the opportunity to educate these professionals not only on the selected assessments but also on how to interpret the information obtained from the assessments and design interventions specific to the needs of the child. The first 2 days are this coming Monday and Tuesday. I can't wait to meet even more educators who are committed to providing the best education for all children. Next month I get to see them all again for more training.
In addition, in February I have the privilege to train a group of therapist (OT, PT, and Speech) in a private therapy clinic in south Arkansas on ways they can assist teachers and other professionals in identifying and treating children at risk for academic difficulty. The only thing I love more than working with children is training more professionals in the best ways to help ALL children. There are many changes coming in Arkansas for our children and I am excited to be a part of it all.
